Is this Austin’s next hip district? Pizza eatery opens on Aldrich Street in Mueller

While the Mueller mixed-use community in North Central Austin has been years in the making, its retail development has more momentum now than ever. That is especially true along Aldrich Street, which is quickly stocking up on new food and entertainment options.

The newest addition is Stella Public House, a pizza restaurant and craft beer taproom helmed by Executive Chef Roland Aguirre. Located at 1905 Aldrich St., Stella Public House is in the Diamond Building designed by Lake/Flato Architects. A grand opening party is scheduled Friday afternoon and evening.

Stella Public House first launched in San Antonio in 2013, where it has garnered praise for its Napoletana-style pizzas, house-made cheeses and appetizers.

The modern, open design of Stella Public House is courtesy of Austin’s Maker Architects with interior design by Joel Mozersky, plus custom lighting fixtures by Warbach Lighting & Design.

Also in the Diamond Building, Austin-based coffee shop Halcyon opened late last month next door to Stella Public House. Lick Honest Ice Creams and B.D. Riley’s Irish Pub have also come on line in recent months.

Aldrich is on the west side of Mueller, near Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. The street is also home to a location of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema LLC and children’s museum The Thinkery.

On the other side of Mueller, plans were just revealed for a new condo and mixed-use project called the Austin Modern Lofts.
